Things to Do in Longview, TX This Weekend: Where to Look and What's Always On

By Grace Pointe Apartments · 4 min read · Updated October 26, 2026

To find things to do in Longview, Texas this weekend, check three calendars: Visit Longview, the City of Longview, and the Belcher Center box office. If nothing on them fits, Longview has a set of weekend standbys that are open most Saturdays: the Longview Arboretum, the downtown museums, and a craft brewery on Tyler Street.

This guide is built to stay useful any weekend. The calendars change every week. The standbys don't.

Step 1: Check this weekend's calendars

  • Visit Longview event calendar. The broadest list: concerts, festivals, markets and races.
  • City of Longview calendar. Park events, library programs and 5Ks. For example, November 2026 includes the Butterfly Run 5K at the Arboretum on Nov. 7, Jaycees Trade Days at the Exhibit Center on Nov. 14, and the Gobble Wobble on the Boorman Trail on Nov. 21.
  • Belcher Center. LeTourneau University's performing arts hall books touring comedians, concerts and holiday shows. Jim Gaffigan plays there on Nov. 19, 2026.

In spring and fall, Friday nights often mean Downtown Live, a free concert at Heritage Plaza from 5 to about 8 p.m., per Visit Longview.

Step 2: Weekend standbys

1. Longview Arboretum and Nature Center

Address: 706 W Cotton St

Open Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5, with $5 admission and free entry for children 6 and under, per the Arboretum. From late November it runs Bright! A Season of Lights on Thursday through Saturday nights. About 10 minutes from Grace Pointe.

2. Downtown museums (Saturday mornings)

  • Longview Museum of Fine Arts, 215 E Tyler St. Free exhibitions, Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., per the museum.
  • Gregg County Historical Museum, 214 N Fredonia St. Saturday 10 to 2. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for seniors and $1 for ages 18 and under, per the museum.

Both are within a couple of blocks of each other, and of Silver Grizzly Espresso for coffee.

3. Longview World of Wonders

Address: 112 E Tyler St Google rating: 4.5 stars from 384 reviews

A hands-on science and discovery museum for family-friendly activities, per KLTV. Hours and prices in older listings may have changed, so check longviewwow.org before you go.

4. Oil Horse Brewing Company

Address: 101 W Tyler St

A downtown craft brewery with a taproom, usually pouring eight to 10 of its own beers, each named for a piece of Longview or oilfield history, per East Texas Weekend. The owners keep TVs out on purpose, so it's a place to talk. Check its site for trivia and event nights.

5. Longview Escape Room

Address: 438 N Fredonia St Google rating: 4.4 stars from 107 reviews

A downtown escape room for a group of friends or coworkers. Book ahead at longviewescaperoom.com.

6. Lazer X

Address: 2523 Judson Rd Google rating: 4.3 stars from 103 reviews

What weekends look like by season

  • Late fall and winter: Christmas in the Pineywoods at Maude Cobb (Nov. 19 to 21), the downtown tree lighting (Sat., Nov. 21), Bright! at the Arboretum on Thursday through Saturday nights from Nov. 28, and the Christmas parade on Thursday, Dec. 3. Full details in our Christmas events guide.
  • Spring and fall: Downtown Live concerts on Friday nights at Heritage Plaza.
  • Summer: the Great Texas Balloon Race in June, the Stamper Park Family Aquatic Center, and the city's free splash pads, which run from April through October.
